Our Metal

Our accessories are made of these following materials:

Gold :: Purity

The highest karat level for gold, or purest level, is called 24K which is 99.99% gold. 24K gold is too soft to be made into accessories, which is why other metals such as silver, copper, zinc, and nickel are mixed to add durability, the amount and type of metals added depend on each manufacturer. Mixed gold is more durable, and more suitable for accessories making as the gold percentage is less compared to pure gold. YJewelry accessories are made with 14K gold (58.3%) or 18K gold (75%).

Body Color

The color of the gold body depends on the amount and type of metals mixed with the gold. The color from mixed metals is different from plating, since the alloying elements are mixed with the gold which makes the color permanent and less likely to fade.

YJewelry offers a variety of 4 colors:

Platinum

Platinum is a kind of metal with a silvery-white hue, sometimes grayish. Platinum is harder than gold with a high melting point, requiring special tools for making platinum into accessories. This makes platinum suitable for simple and minimal designs without much detail.

Platinum accessories are often priceley as they are quite rare and require expertises and skills to shape. However, they are strong, durable, and very easy to take care of. Platinum retains its shine and requires only a piece of clothing to polish in order to make it shiny again.

Purity

There are 2 levels of platinum’s purity available in the market: 900 and 950. The purer and higher the platinum’s quality, the better for wearers with sensitive skin.

Body Color

The only natural platinum color is silvery-white hue without any plating needed for it to shine since one of platinum’s best qualities is its shine.

Maintaining Jewelries

Avoid coming in contact with perfume or colliding with sharp or hard objects. Do not put on platinum jewelries while engaging in extreme activities such as exercising or gardening. Clean, scrub, or give platinum accessories plating from time to time or after a period of usage. Mix up a solution of mild soap and water, or mild dish soap, and dry them thoroughly.

For platinum accessories, gently clean with soft cloth.
